Type of Dive: Shore Dive in a sheltered sandy bay with rocky outcrops and the remains of the SS Rosa.

Suggested experience: Novice also a popular snorkelling site.

Travel directions: To get there, drive from Bridlington Head towards Flamborough on the B1255. Keep on this road through Flamborough village towards Thornwick Bay and North Landing

Parking directions: The car park is on the left opposite the North Star Hotel pay and display.

Tides: Tide tables  best dived at high or just before high water and North Landing is 30 minutes after Whitby

Site entry/exit: The walk from the car park is not far but the steep steps are a bit of a test on the way back to the car park. Enter the water at the right of the bay in front of the disused lifeboat station and exit in the same place.

Underwater directions: Keep to the right (facing the sea) and don't go past the head.

Site Hazards: Currents at the head of the bay. Take care leaving the water if there is a swell, it's easy to get knocked over.

Other comments: There is a hand-painted sign saying no diving but this was put up without permission and should be ignored. confirmed by Scarborough Borough Council. Best to dive if it hasn't rained for a few days beforehand or there have not been any heavy winds because the swell picks up. Also if you are night diving you can reverse your car down to the top of the slipway and drop your kit off, remember to park it back in the car park.
