MOD Reef

Type of Dive: Shore dive on a boulder slope with sandy patches.

Travel directions: Leaving Glasgow on the A82 turn left at Tarbet onto the A83, through Arrochar and over the rest and be thankful and turn left onto the A815 Its 7.4 miles to the turnoff to MOD Reef from the junction of the A83 and the A815 and first right past Ardnish cottage. It’s 100m down this road. Google map

Parking direction:  Don’t park on the grass in front of the houses, park in front of the MOD building. There are logs along the side of the road now making parking harder. Its possible to drop off kit and park at the top of the road.

Tides: Tide tables

Site entry/exit: Enter at the end of the metal slip and to exit come back along the shore until you see cables heading down the slope. The cables take you to the end of the slip.

Entry/exit to MOD Reef

Underwater directions: From the end of the slip swim down to 10m and turn left keep at this depth until you reach the reef. The reef goes down to 38m and then it slopes down to 52m. If you want a shallow dive the reef extends along the shore for 50m.
