Porthgain

Type of Dive: Porthgain in Pembrokeshire is an easy shore dive just outside the Harbour.

Suggested Experience: Novice in good conditions

Travel directions: From the north or south on the A487 through Fishguard or St Davids and turn at Croesgoch into Llanrhian road though Llanrhian onto Porthgain. 

Parking directions: Park in the carpark on the pier or across the road from the Sloop Inn. (110m from the slip)

Tides: Tide tables  Its best to dive here on High slack water as the harbour dries out at low tide.

Depth: 3-8m

Site entry/exit: Very easy walk down the slip into the water.

Porthgain entry/exit 

Underwater directions: From the slip on the north in and out many gullies and across to the big gully if you have enough gas and back to the slip. There is plenty to see in the gullies including Lobster, Spider Crab,  leopard spotted gobies,

Site Hazards: Occasional boat traffic as this is a working harbour so an SMB is recommended.

Other comments: The wreck of the Dan Beard can be dived from here, Launching from the slip. (51°56'00.0"N 5°29'00.0"W)   You can also dive the Blue Lagoon 2.7 miles and 10 min south of here.
